Singer Son Tae Jin said it was a meaningful project ahead of the release of the remake EP 'Promise of Spring.'
Mystic Story announced on the 15th that "Son Tae Jin will release the remake EP 'Promise of Spring' through various music sites at 6 p.m. that day."
'Promise of Spring' is a remake album that reinterprets timeless classics in Son Tae Jin's unique sensibility. The title track, Choi Hee-jun's 'Boarding house tenant,' has been reborn in Son Tae Jin's sensibility.
The album includes 'Boarding house tenant' as well as Song Chang-sik's 'My first confession', Patti Kim's 'I can't forget', Woo Sun-sil's 'The lost umbrella', and Lee Jang-hee's 'I will give you everything.' As Son Tae Jin has shown emotions that cross genres between classical singing and trot, he is expected to deliver a resonance that connects generations.
On releasing a remake EP for the first time since his debut, Son Tae Jin said, "First of all, because this is my first remake EP, I'm both nervous and excited. Above all, being able to sing these classics again with my voice itself feels truly special. Borrowing the sentiment of that era to tell my story now made it a meaningful project, and I am once again deeply grateful to all the seniors who allowed the remakes."
He described the listening point of this album 'Promise of Spring' by saying, "'Promise of Spring' is an album that layers the emotions I feel now onto classics that have been loved across generations," and added, "While preserving the texture of the original songs, I tried to unfold the breathing and emotional lines more delicately."
He continued, "I especially recommend listening to this remake album with earphones. Since it contains various genres such as jazz, swing, big band, and cinematic ballad, listening in a quiet environment will let you immerse yourself more in the songs, and I think you will feel even the smallest breaths more precisely," asking for anticipation.
While preparing 'Promise of Spring,' Son Tae Jin spent a lot of time selecting songs. Regarding the reason for choosing each track, he explained, "I selected songs based on whether 'it would be convincing if I sang it now' and chose pieces that would highlight my strengths even after rearrangement. Because the originals are really great classics, I focused on conveying the songs' emotions fully by subtracting rather than adding technical flourishes."
Finally, Son Tae Jin expressed his affection for fans when asked about the 'Promise of Spring' he wants to achieve this year as the album title suggests, saying, "Not being impatient, remaining someone who sings for a long time, and continuing to greet you from the stage as I do now. It is a promise with fans I want to keep."
