Announcer-turned-host Baek Ji-yeon showed tears thinking of her son, who became a son-in-law of the Hyundai family.

Having recently married off her son and become a mother-in-law, Baek Ji-yeon drew attention by sharing various personal experiences on the broadcast that day.
She said, "In conclusion, a good mother-in-law can be summed up in one phrase as 'someone who keeps boundaries.' When a daughter-in-law first comes in, how pretty she is. I also thought she was very pretty. So you want to treat her well. But what a daughter-in-law wants is not a mother-in-law who treats her well but a mother-in-law who keeps boundaries," and added, "So the easiest thing is to do nothing. 'You two are married, so you two live your lives well,' and our role as mothers-in-law is to live our own lives well."
She continued, "I should not neglect my health and not exercise and then be sick at the drop of a hat and say come and go when you have to go to the hospital. We are the backup. When the kids are about to fall, we support them from behind; there is no need to step forward and be a cheerleading squad. You should never step forward and guide them," and advised, "I think the best thing is to live my life diligently, bless and pray that they live happily in their own way."
Earlier, Baek Ji-yeon debuted as an MBC 15th class public broadcaster announcer in 1987 and acted before marrying in 1995 and having a son. However, she divorced after four years, remarried in 2001 but divorced six years later, and raised her son alone in the meantime. In particular, her son married the daughter of Chung Mong-won, chairman of HL Group, in 2023, attracting attention as a son-in-law of the Hyundai family.
Baek Ji-yeon recalled, "If I reveal a personal story, when my son was getting married he made this request," and said, "My son, until now in your life your mother may have been the most important person, but after you get married, your wife will be the most important person to you. So for you, you and your wife and your i-dle are the top priority, and then mother comes next. Mother is not even a bit resentful. That is the natural order and reason. So think of it with peace of mind and really, really love the person who becomes your wife as much as you want. Your wife has to be happy for you to be happy, and your household has to be happy for your children to do well, and then watching that makes me happy. That is for your mother," she said, recalling the time.
Recalling that time, Baek Ji-yeon reddened at the eyes and added, "I get teary thinking of my son. But that is truly my sincere feeling, and I think that is every parent's feeling."
