They divorced in 2020, in their fourth year of marriage. When asked who brought up divorce first, Yu Kkaet-ip mentioned Choi Go-gi, and Choi Go-gi mentioned Yu Kkaet-ip, which surprised people.
Choi Go-gi explained, "In the past there was a time when Yu Kkaet-ip wasn't home for a day. A friend came and watched the child with me, but when Yu Kkaet-ip came home she didn't greet the friend. When I asked why she didn't greet them, Yu Kkaet-ip said if it's going to be like this let's think about it."
In response, Yu Kkaet-ip said, "That's the first time I'm hearing that," and "At that time Choi Go-gi said so much in front of his friends that I got angry and said let's think about it," acknowledging it, then added that the wording "divorce" was first brought up by Choi Go-gi.
Meanwhile, the two appeared together on the 2020 broadcast We Got Divorced, seven months after their divorce, and received encouragement to reconcile. However, Yu Kkaet-ip said she was under a lot of stress at the time, which drew sympathy. <
