The film Salmokji meets audiences in person as it fulfills its box office pledge upon surpassing its break-even point.
On the 14th, according to the Korean Film Council (KOFIC) integrated box office network, Salmokji exceeded its break-even point by surpassing 800,000 viewers on its seventh day after release. This is the fastest record among films released this year, proving its early box office momentum by holding the No. 1 spot at the box office for six consecutive days since opening.
Riding on this success, the Salmokji team will immediately follow through on its pledge. According to the investor-distributor SHOWBOX Co., Ltd., a surprise stage greeting will be held on the 15th at Megabox COEX.
On that day, director Lee Sang-min, along with Kim Hyeyoon, Lee Jong-won, Kim Jun Han, Kim Young-seong, Yoon Jae-chan, Oh Dong-min, Jang Da-a and other main actors are expected to appear in full force.
In particular, this stage greeting has drawn attention by announcing the promised "ghost makeup" as a box office pledge. The actors are expected to engage with audiences in fresh ways, further lifting the theater atmosphere. At some screenings, a high-five event will also be arranged, providing more opportunities to interact closely with audiences.
Salmokji is a horror film about a film crew that, after a mysterious figure appears in Street View, visits a reservoir to confirm it and encounters a strange entity.
It remains to be seen whether it can sustain its box office momentum into its second week after release based on its intense genre appeal and word of mouth.
