Director Hong Sang-soo and actress Kim Min-hee's new film "The Day She Returned" will be released domestically.
On the 14th, the team behind the film "The Day She Returned" (director Hong Sang-soo, production manager Kim Min-hee, produced by Film Production Jeonwonsa, domestic distributors Film Production Jeonwonsa·Contents Panda, international distributor Finecut) announced a domestic release on May 6 and unveiled the main poster and trailer.
"The Day She Returned" is a film that depicts the day actress Bae Jeong-su (played by Song Sun-mi), who had stopped acting after marriage and after a divorce filmed an independent movie to return to work, gives an interview for the release of her new film. It is the 34th feature-length new work by director Hong Sang-soo, who was invited to the Berlin International Film Festival for the seventh consecutive year.
The poster captures Song Sun-mi, who plays the lead, taking a short break between interviews on the lawn in front of the German restaurant, the film's main setting. It is said to be an image captured from an actual scene in the film.
The trailer features images that look as if they were shot using a triple exposure technique in the camera. In the film, Bae Jeong-su spends a half day being interviewed in succession by three young interviewers. The triple exposure technique is expected to create an experience that simultaneously looks at three separate moments of time and experience that are apart.
In particular, this film has attracted attention as director Hong Sang-soo and his partner, actress Kim Min-hee, joined forces with Kim Min-hee as production manager. In March 2017, after the press screening of the film "On the Beach at Night Alone," Hong Sang-soo and Kim Min-hee publicly acknowledged their affair at a press conference, saying "we are in love with each other," which caused a social stir.
Later, director Hong Sang-soo filed for divorce mediation against his wife but it was dismissed, and in June 2019 the divorce lawsuit was also dismissed, leading him to abandon the appeal. In the meantime, Hong Sang-soo drew further attention by living with Kim Min-hee and fathering an extramarital child last year. In March, Hong Sang-soo and Kim Min-hee were spotted walking with their son in a park in Hanam, Gyeonggi Province, drawing attention. <
