'The giant of South Korea's entertainment world' Park Myung Soo has joined CPNtertainment, marking a new leap forward.
Park Myung Soo's new home has been decided. CPNtertainment, a subsidiary of Coupang, announced on the 14th that it had signed an exclusive contract with Park Myung Soo, saying, "We are honored to become one family with South Korea's top-tier entertainer Park Myung Soo. As an entertainer who spans generations, we will spare no support to help him receive even greater love."
Park Myung Soo, who debuted in 1993 as an MBC open-recruit comedian, is a universally acknowledged giant in the entertainment field. Having built his own unique domain with the "scolding comedy," he gained huge popularity by creating many characters, including "the giant," through the national variety show Infinite Challenge. As a result, he won the grand prize at the MBC Entertainment Awards in 2007 and 2012.
His activity is ongoing. For 10 years he has maintained Park Myung Soo's Radio Show, solidifying his status as a leading radio DJ in Korea, and through the YouTube channel "Hal Myung Soo" he has rapidly risen as an icon for Millennials and Gen Z. On "Hal Myung Soo," which has about 1.71 million subscribers, he moves between interviews, mukbangs and skits, enjoying a second heyday.
Through this exclusive contract, Park Myung Soo seeks a new change. He said, "I am very happy and excited to join CPNtertainment, which is creating a new trend with unique content production and the management of top entertainers," adding, "I hope you will watch the third act of my life that I will open with a strong partner with much interest and affection."
CPNtertainment, led by Shin Dong-yeob, has built a solid artist lineup including Lee Suji, Ji Ye-eun, Kim Kyu-won and recently recruited Kangnam, emerging as a rising power in the entertainment industry. In particular, by producing flagship Coupang Play series such as "SNL Korea," it has proven both management and production capabilities, drawing industry attention to the explosive synergy it will create with Park Myung Soo.<
