Group Wanna One alumnus Bae Jinyoung's younger brother Bae Seochan has been selected for the short track speed skating national team, drawing attention.
Bae Seochan (Goyang City Hall) placed third overall in the men's division at the 2026-2027 season short track national team selection held on the 12th at Mokdong Ice Rink in Seoul and earned the taegeuk mark.
Accordingly, he is expected to serve as a relay member at major international competitions next season, including the International Skating Union (ISU) World Tour.
In particular, this selection is more meaningful because it is Bae Seochan's first appointment to the senior national team. He previously proved his potential by winning one gold medal, one silver medal and one bronze medal at the Universiade.
At the same time, the fact that he is "Bae Jinyoung's younger brother" is once again drawing attention. Bae Seochan candidly said in an interview, "When I was young, getting attention because of my older brother was stressful, but now it's actually nice."
He added, "These days I mostly stay at my brother's house. I'm even happier because my brother really likes it and congratulated me," revealing a warm sibling bond.
He also said, "It probably won't be easy to become as famous as my brother," but added, "I'll work hard," expressing his determination and drawing attention.
Meanwhile, Bae Jinyoung debuted with Wanna One through Mnet's "Produce 101 Season 2" in 2017 and received great love. He later redebuted with the group CIX and was active, and recently announced a fresh start as a solo artist and has continued various activities.<
