Actor Lee Bum-soo, who for the first time revealed his daily life on a broadcast after his divorce, expressed the feelings he has felt during that time.
On the 13th, Lee Bum-soo said in a phone call with OSEN, looking back on the divorce process with his ex-wife Lee Yoon-jin, "The past few years have been a precious time that made me reflect on my life."
Lee Bum-soo and Lee Yoon-jin ended their marriage on Feb. 6. Having once experienced the pain of divorce, Lee Bum-soo married Lee Yoon-jin in May 2010 and had one son and one daughter. He appeared on shows such as The Return of SUPERMAN and received much love, but it shocked many when it was revealed on Mar. 16, 2024, that they were undergoing divorce mediation.
After the divorce rumor became known, a mudslinging battle continued amid one-sided revelations by Lee Yoon-jin. During the divorce mediation, when Lee Bum-soo did not attend, Lee Yoon-jin revealed several anecdotes and described their marriage as "bizarre," and Lee Bum-soo's side said, "It is not true," and declined to comment.
During the year-spanning divorce mediation, Lee Bum-soo returned and continued his activities through Netflix's 광장, Tving's 빌런즈 and others, while Lee Yoon-jin left Korea and settled in Bali, Indonesia, transforming into a hotelier. Two years later, with the divorce mediation finalized, Lee Bum-soo and Lee Yoon-jin's marriage came to an end.
In a phone call, Lee Bum-soo looked back on about two years and said, "Going through that time made me deeply once again appreciate how thankful I am for the many people who love and support me." Lee Bum-soo said, "As I was running hard along life's path and suddenly looked back, I reflected on myself, wondering if I had been arrogant. That period of silence was nourishment that allowed me to grow again and made me realize many things, and I vowed that from now on I will do my best in my place with a more humble and sincere heart."
In particular, Lee Bum-soo described that time as "a precious time to reflect on life," and said, "From now on I will work with more humility and gratitude as someone who knows how to look around at those by my side."
After his divorce, Lee Bum-soo, who stood before the camera again, revealed his daily life on SBS's My Little Old Boy and opened up about his feelings regarding the divorce.
Lee Bum-soo said, "There are no winners in a divorce, right? My pain is not the important thing; I feel terribly sorry for the children, and I have left pain with my family," and added, "I think it was good to remain silent about the misunderstandings that arose during the divorce process. I wanted to stay still out of apology to the children. I did not want to stand out."
Lee Bum-soo was living alone in the house after his family left. With a spacious living room and kitchen drawing attention, Lee Bum-soo tidied up by cleaning dust and putting things back in place as he organized daughter So-eul's and son Da-eul's rooms one by one so the children could come and stay at any time. As he still feels tender toward the children, a warm paternal affection was evident.
Meanwhile, Lee Bum-soo debuted in 1990 with the film 그래, 가끔 하늘을 보자. Celebrating his 35th debut anniversary this year, Lee Bum-soo has appeared in films such as Bankiwamu Chimdae, Ghost Mamma, Exorcism Chronicles: The Beginning, The Sun Is Not There, Love, Anarchist, Jungle Juice, Singles, Oh! Brothers, The Match, King Kong Lives, The Divine Move, Incheon Landing Operation, Ja Cheon Cha Wang Eom Bok-dong, The Roundup: No Way Out, The Roundup: Punishment and dramas such as Oh!
