'Climax' rose to No. 1 in overall Monday-Tuesday drama ratings as it nears its finale.
On the 14th, ENA's Monday-Tuesday drama Climax said the ninth episode, broadcast on the 13th, rebounded to 3.3% nationwide and 3% in the metropolitan area, according to Nielsen Korea's paid TV household ratings. Nationwide ratings, which had slipped to 2.9% the previous week, recovered to the 3% range. This drew even more attention as it was the No. 1 record among Monday-Tuesday dramas.
Climax is a work that depicts prosecutor Bang Tae-seop, who plunged into a cartel of power to stand at the top of Korea, and the fierce survival struggle of those around him. With today (the 14th) marking episode 10 (the final episode), the show's ratings have rebounded, drawing attention.
Critics said the intense conflicts between characters that escalate to the extreme until the end and the continuing twists especially generated strong immersion. "You can really see the actors did their best, an acting spectacle," "The full-scale ambition is really evident," "I didn't expect it to collapse all at once like this," "I'm so curious how the final episode will be resolved now," and similar reactions show enthusiastic viewer responses.
The show's performance on global OTT platforms was also noteworthy. Climax ranked No. 2 domestically on Disney+, No. 1 on Naver Open Talk rankings, and No. 1 in the drama category of KinoLites' monthly trend rankings.
In addition, production company HYBE Media Corp. said Climax is showing strong box office momentum overseas. After ranking No. 1 in Indonesia and Thailand in its first week of release, it entered the top five in Singapore, Malaysia, the Philippines, Hong Kong and other Southeast Asian markets, as well as in the Americas, Europe, Oceania and the Middle East.
According to FlixPatrol, Climax also ranked No. 1 in Taiwan. In addition, it has maintained a top-five position for four consecutive weeks in Indonesia, Thailand and the Americas.
With only the final episode left, attention is focusing more on Climax's ending and final performance. In the drama, Ju Jihoon's political prosecutor trajectory, Ha Jiwon and Nana's lesbian acting, and Cha Joo-young's chaebol mistress performance, among various shocking settings, had provoked discussion each episode.
