"Romance's absolute value" director Lee Tae-gon explained why he took the helm.
On the morning of the 14th at The Saint Hotel in Sindorim, Seoul, a production presentation was held for the Coupang Play series "Romance's absolute value." Actors Kim Hyang-gi, Cha Hak-yeon, Kim Jae-hyun, Son Jeong-hyeok, Kim Dong-gyu and director Lee Tae-gon attended the event and discussed various aspects of the work.
Coupang Play's series "Romance's absolute value" is a high-teen series about a high school girl who used to write BL novels starring handsome male teachers, who encounters unexpected moments with them in reality and becomes the protagonist of a tumultuous school life, and it is set to premiere on the 17th.
That day director Lee Tae-gon explained why he took the helm, saying, "I had an opportunity a few years ago to review scripts, and this was the most eye-catching work. I thought it could be an immediate asset, I felt its charm, so I signed a contract with the writer and prepared the script."
He continued, "The process was fun, and there are many reasons I wanted to direct this script rather than someone else. The work offers youth and fun. Just as Qin Shi Huang searched for the elixir of life, I wondered if directing this work might make me younger," he confessed.
About "Romance's absolute value," the director said, "It had many strengths. Whether it's a school drama or a high-teen romance, I wanted to focus on growth. The greatest growth occurs during student years, and the experiences seen and endured are important in life, so I hoped both viewers and creators would achieve growth."
Meanwhile, Coupang Play's series "Romance's absolute value" will premiere at 8 p.m. on the 17th.
