The group Big Bang will take the Coachella stage to mark the start of a grand 20th anniversary party.
Big Bang will perform for about 60 minutes on the Outdoor Theatre, one of the large stages of the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival (Coachella), the world's largest music festival, held in Indio, California, on April 12 and 19 (local time).
Coachella, which began in 1999, is a prestigious festival with an attendance of 200,000 to 300,000 people each year. It is respected for inviting not only popularly loved singers but also artists with musical credibility, and many artists dream of performing on its stage.
Big Bang's association with Coachella almost happened in 2020. Big Bang had planned to present their first full-group stage after military discharge at Coachella, but the festival was canceled because of the COVID-19 pandemic, leaving fans disappointed. Now, reconnecting with Coachella after six years, Big Bang is ready to make the world fall for Big Bang again as a three-member full group.
It is noteworthy that 2026, when Big Bang will stand on the Coachella stage, is a monumental year marking their 20th anniversary. Debuting on Aug. 19, 2006, Big Bang helped spark K-pop fever around the world. Big Bang's track record of hits such as Haru Haru, FANTASTIC BABY, Bang Bang Bang, Lies, Last Farewell, Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter, BLUE, Flower Road, and MONSTER is too extensive to list in full.
Not only as a group, but G-Dragon, Taeyang and Daesung's solo activities have been as significant as their group activities. G-Dragon showed he remains strong by releasing his third studio album last year and embarking on a world tour; Daesung demonstrated a wide musical spectrum through appearances on various entertainment shows and releasing new trot-genre songs; and Taeyang began full-scale activities by releasing a new album on the 1st, proving the group's continued presence through diverse solo activities in addition to group work.
With about three days left until the performances, on the 10th various social accounts teased stages of BANG BANG BANG, FANTASTIC BABY and WE LIKE 2 PARTY, raising expectations. The set list, covering many hit songs, is expected to satisfy fans around the world.
Coachella aside, this concert is even more anticipated as the start of Big Bang's glamorous 20th anniversary party. To commemorate their 20th anniversary, Big Bang is preparing a new global tour and, based on a close family relationship with YG Entertainment (YG Entertainment), plans to write a new chapter in K-pop history.
Ahead of the "return of the kings," Big Bang said, "We prepared this Coachella with special determination because we believe it is a symbolic stage marking another beginning for us. We plan to get close to fans around the world, breathe with them and deliver the best performance that unites us through music, so please enjoy it with us."
