Actor Lee Bum-soo drew attention by candidly sharing his feelings toward his children after his divorce. In particular, the reason he lived with his son also drew attention.
On the 12th, SBS' My Little Old Boy aired, revealing the daily life of Lee Bum-soo, who appeared as a new member.
Having recently finalized an uncontested divorce, he calmly said, "It seems there are no winners in a divorce," and "Both are hurting, and the i-dle are," then continued, "My being hurt is not important. I feel so sorry for the children," and confessed, "I regret that I think I left pain for my family around me."
In particular, the home shown that day still bore traces of the children. He had organized the rooms once used by daughter So-eul and son Da-eul, and kept their photos and notes intact. Lee Bum-soo said, "Anyone would feel this way, but I miss the children so much," conveying his feelings as a father.
He recalled the divorce proceedings and said, "The eldest daughter stayed with her mother, and the second son wanted to be with his father, so I lived with him." He added, "Other children are usually taken to school by their mother. I wanted to make sure they wouldn't feel 'I am alone,' so I took them to school every day," and said, "I wanted them to feel 'Dad is always by their side' without missing a single day." Even so, he showed conflicted feelings, saying, "Still, the son must have missed his mother a lot."
Earlier, Lee Bum-soo's ex-wife, Lee Yoon-jin, had revealed during the divorce proceedings that she had spent a long time apart from her son, drawing sympathy. Lee Yoon-jin said on the broadcast, "I couldn't see my son for more than a year," and also posted on social media, "If anyone knows my son's whereabouts, please DM me." After about a year and a half, she reunited with her son and shared that they traveled together to Japan and Seoul, rebuilding time together. Recently, she was shown living with her children in Bali, revealing continuing changes in family relations.
Each person protected the children in their own way at different times. In this context, Lee Bum-soo also recounted the moment he reunited with his children after the proceedings concluded. He recalled, "Two to three days after the agreement was finalized, the children contacted me saying they wanted to see me," and added, "We met again like that, and I think we laughed for the first time in years." He said, "These days my son comes home about twice a week after school. My daughter also often comes with her brother," and added, "I am so grateful for that," as the family's daily life resumed after their time apart drew attention.
