Musician Hitchhiker and Jin Choi will serve as co-hosts of HYBE's video podcast. The father-daughter pair will spotlight music from the perspectives of different generations based on their shared denominator of music, share new inspiration and form a common ground.
HYBE on the 10th released a trailer for "Interfering with music" on the Spotify channel STAN:A to announce the start of the new program. "Interfering with music," STAN:A's second podcast lineup, will premiere its first episode on the 24th at 6 p.m. and will be released every other week thereafter.
"Interfering with music" is a music commentary program co-hosted by music producer Hitchhiker and singer-songwriter Jin Choi, a father and daughter. Starting from the shift in perspective that everyday music is "interfering" with our every moment, it was planned to understand everything about music that has become part of our lives.
Each episode centers on a music-related theme and explores music from multiple angles through conversations with figures from various fields. The program will broadly encompass social phenomena and cultural trends created by music. In the first episode, ILLIT members Yoona and Minju will appear and discuss the music consumption habits of the younger generation.
The trailer for "Interfering with music" was produced in a vlog format by Jin Choi and focused on the narrative of the father-daughter hosts. The video is composed of photos and footage of Jin Choi's life from childhood to the present, including daily life with her father Hitchhiker. Hitchhiker and Jin Choi show a carefree, friend-like relationship as they dance together, take selfies and joke around. At the same time, it captures how Jin Choi, who spent time moving between Hitchhiker's concert venues and studio like a playground, naturally encountered various instruments such as keyboard, drums and guitar and communicated through music.
Jin Choi, who produced the video, said in the narration, "The reason we are hosting this podcast is because we love music," and added that she was happy to be able to talk about music with her father, her closest friend. The two, who have long communicated through music, are expected to show a special chemistry as hosts of "Interfering with music" that spans generations.
HYBE Media Studio said the hosts' musical expertise and the fresh perspectives of guests from various fields will combine to make a commentary program that spotlights music from a newer and expanded viewpoint, and said, "People from unexpected fields will appear to look at music from different angles, providing an experience in which new meanings and attractions can be discovered in the process."
Hitchhiker, who hosts the program, worked as a producer and member of the band Rollercoaster and, as a K-pop producer, created many hit songs including BoA's "GAME," Girls' Generation's "Show! Show! Show!," f(x)'s "Pinocchio," and Brown Eyed Girls' "Abracadabra." He is currently active as a HYBE producer. Co-host Jin Choi is an emerging singer-songwriter who in 2024, at the age of 15, released her debut album mom!!iminlove, for which she wrote and composed all the songs herself, and has continued her musical activities.
Meanwhile, HYBE Media Studio, which operates the video podcast channel STAN:A, plans to continuously introduce podcast programs on various topics following the mystery thriller "Blood Diary" and the music commentary "Interfering with music."
