Kim Jun Han died after saving Jung Soojung, and a stormlike sequence of events unfolded.
In episode 10 of the weekend tvN drama Mad Concrete Dreams (writer Oh Han-gi/director Im Pil-seong/planner Studio Dragon/producer Mindmark, Studio329, hereafter "Mad Concrete Dreams"), which aired on the 12th, the devastated state of Seyoon Building after a kidnapping and a fire was shown, and the crisis of Ki Su-jong (Ha Jung-woo) and Kim Sean (Lim Soojung) — who must again deal with the aftermath — foreshadowed mounting tension.
Kim Sean barely saved Min Hwal-seong (Kim Jun Han) with the help of his nurse friend Ae-su (No Ji-yu). Although there were unexpected variables during the process, Ki Su-jong and Kim Sean ultimately followed the plan and demanded that Jeon Yi-kyung (Jung Soojung) release her daughter Gi-da-rae (Park Seo-kyung). However, Jeon Yi-kyung discovered that the two had deceived her to the end and were scheming behind her back, and she exploded in anger.
As Ki Su-jong and Kim Sean fled, to make matters worse a fire broke out. Earlier, Jeon Yang-ja (Kim Geum-sun) had cut the piping, causing a leak, and Ki Su-jong had handled it as a temporary fix to save on repair costs. That choice led to disaster, and Seyoon Building was quickly engulfed in flames.
On the rooftop, a suffocating standoff unfolded with Jeon Yi-kyung. Jeon Yi-kyung, using Gi-da-rae as a hostage, appeared to have lost control. Min Hwal-seong's arrival unsettled Jeon Yi-kyung. Min Hwal-seong said he had staged the kidnapping because he wanted to become independent from his mother-in-law Jeon Yang-ja and that he did not expect the plot to lead to such tragedy, expressing regret. He told Jeon Yi-kyung, "I wanted to live happily with you. Let's start again," and conveyed his sincere wish to protect the baby this time. Jeon Yi-kyung, emotionally shaken, released Gi-da-rae but then fainted and fell from the rooftop. Min Hwal-seong wrapped himself around Jeon Yi-kyung and fell with her, ultimately saving his wife and dying.
Receiving Ki Su-jong's SOS, Yona (Shim Eunkyung) arrived at Seyoon Building and fought with Dong-cheol (Lee Ban-seok) and his gang. Yona's killing of Dong-cheol, with a look of murderous intent, was so chilling it evoked an image of a demon. Yet before the arriving police Yona suddenly changed her expression and showed a dual side, sobbing like a child, sending shivers down the spine.
Ki Su-jong and Kim Sean's family were rescued, and Yona was arrested. There were also multiple fatalities including Min Hwal-seong. Ki Su-jong stared helplessly at the burned Seyoon Building. He wished the whole event were a terrible nightmare, but reality waited. Ki Su-jong and Kim Sean could not avoid police questioning, and the couple decided to bury the kidnapping of Jeon Yi-kyung to avoid police suspicion.
Near the end of the broadcast, the body of real estate agent Jang Hee-ju (Ryu A-bel), whom Ki Su-jong and Kim Sean had hidden, was discovered, foreshadowing the couple's deeper entrapment. With two episodes left before the finale, the acts Ki Su-jong and Kim Sean committed directly and indirectly became intertwined, drawing attention to how it would all conclude. Also hinted was Yona's threatening move to accelerate the Sejeong-ro redevelopment project, promising peak tension.
Meanwhile, episode 11 of the weekend tvN drama Mad Concrete Dreams will air on Saturday, Apr. 18, at 9:10 p.m.
