On Running Man, Hwasa showed an unusual loyalty toward Haha and her witty banter exploded.
On the Dec. 12 broadcast of SBS variety show Running Man, Hwasa and Young K appeared.
That day the producers asked, "If you were to buy a meal for a certain Running Man member, how much would you pay?" First Yu Jae-seok asked, "Is it a special day?" then said "20,000 won per person," answering somewhat frugally and drawing laughs. But when the producers said, "The mission budget will be set based on the amount you mentioned," Yu Jae-seok corrected himself, saying, "50,000 won per person," which caused uproarious laughter.
Yang Se-chan answered Haha that "1,000 won is possible," and Haha replied to Yang Se-chan, "If you like Japanese food, a triangle kimbap, instant noodles in a bowl and banana milk — 5,000 won is possible," showing a similarly stingy side. But when the producers set the budget as stated, the "stingy brothers" mode brought laughter. Ji Ye-eun and Jee Seokjin flexed 100,000 won, saying, "Aren't we Running Man family?" Kim Jong Kook, who usually pursues extreme cost-effectiveness, said, "Something like an expensive omakase. These days it's 300,000 to 400,000 won," and added, "On a good day you feed them something nice. In Gangnam it can be 500,000 won," showing generosity.
Guest Young K boldly said 300,000 won and said, "I ate a lot at Haha hyung's barbecue restaurant." Mamamoo's Hwasa also picked Haha and said, "He has taken care of me a lot from before; it could be infinite," showing affection. She then said, "If I had to set an amount, it would be 1,000,000 won," securing seed money generously.
At one point Yu Jae-seok looked at Hwasa and exclaimed, "Your face got smaller," and Hwasa laughed, saying, "I lived hard." In fact, Hwasa briefly appeared with Mamamoo in 2018, so this was a return to Running Man after a full eight years. At that time Hwasa received a gopchang cake as a birthday gift.
Now proudly standing tall as a solo artist, Hwasa released the new song "so cute" following the Good Goodbye craze. Yu Jae-seok said, "How nice would it be for Psy's agency to have Hwasa?" and Hwasa replied, "I purposely don't look at the charts, but oppa reports them to me every morning and he really likes it." The panelists said, "Still, it would be good for him to do well himself," and added, "JYP would feel the same. Maybe even more so — Psy and JYP have strong self-love," prompting laughter.
Meanwhile, in that day's game Hwasa showed she eats very well regardless of her comeback and starred as an unleashed dieter. About the thoughts that come to mind every time she looks in the mirror, she ad-libbed lines including "When did you become this pretty," "You do your best," and "I'm X," and her ad-libs added to the program's fun.
