Actor Heo Nam-jun made a surprise appearance in "Perfect Crown," offering a welcome face.
MBC's Friday-Saturday drama "Perfect Crown" is a romance drama set in a constitutional monarchy Korea that tells the story of Seong Hee-ju (played by IU), a woman who has everything except social status and is frustrated because she is a commoner, and Grand Prince I-an (played by Byeon Woo-seok), the king's son who is sad because he cannot have anything. From the first broadcast it has been generating intense buzz, and Heo Nam-jun joined as Yeon-jun Kim, Hee-ju's blind date, injecting fresh energy.
In episode 2, which aired on the 11th, Yeon-jun had a brief but intense meeting with Hee-ju against the backdrop of the royal art museum. Earlier, Yeon-jun's generous consideration, shown when he understood Hee-ju's sudden change in the matchmaking schedule, continued at the blind date. Yeon-jun's awkward timidity as he hesitated while gauging the absorbed Hee-ju's mood drew smiles from viewers. In particular, his efforts to continue the conversation with a clearly nervous voice and a flushed face completed an unusual chemistry.
For a moment, Yeon-jun was taken aback by Hee-ju's cutting remark that treated their relationship purely as a business transaction. Overwhelmed by Hee-ju's arrogance as she pushed, "Can you devote your body so that I can rise to the top?" he did not know what to do in the face of continued rudeness and expressed his refusal, saying, "Our marriage would be difficult," leaving a bittersweet and regretful aftertaste.
Heo Nam-jun realistically portrayed the simple facets of a character who is overwhelmed and embarrassed by the other's force, leaving a strong impression despite the brief appearance. He returns as Cha Se-gye, the lead of SBS's new Friday-Saturday drama "A Brave New World," which premieres May 8. Viewers can look forward to Heo Nam-jun's dramatic transformation into an "evil conglomerate" who is 180 degrees different from "Perfect Crown."<
