AKMU (AKMU) Lee Suhyun directly addressed remarks related to the obesity treatment drug "Wegovy".
Lee Suhyun, while communicating with fans during a live broadcast on the 11th, clarified misunderstandings related to the 'Wegovy use suspicion' surrounding her.
Earlier, after suspicions about drug use arose following her diet success, she said "I did not use Wegovy," but some interpreted that remark as belittling people who use the drug.
On this, Lee Suhyun explained, "Saying I didn't do it seems to have been taken to mean 'why would you do something like that.' That was not my intention," and added, "There are many ways to diet, but I meant that I chose to do exercise and diet on my own."
She also shared her thoughts on obesity treatments. She said, "I think it can help people for whom exercise is difficult or who really need to lose weight but find it hard to do on their own," while adding, "Because it adjusts hormones and goes against the body's natural functions in some ways, I cannot recommend it to just anyone."
She also revealed that she had considered using Wegovy. Lee Suhyun said, "I considered it when it first came up, but I thought that if I relied on the drug it would be difficult to maintain after stopping," and added, "I judged that developing the ability to manage myself was more important."
Regarding the repeated misunderstandings, she emphasized, "Why would I look down on people who use Wegovy? If someone wants to do it, they can," and said, "It can help people who are severely obese or who find exercise and diet management difficult due to their environment."
Earlier, Lee Suhyun drew attention with a noticeably reduced appearance and was swept up in speculation about drug use, but she said, "I did not use Wegovy. I am very aggrieved," and stated that she managed it through exercise and diet.
