The girl group KATSEYE (KATSEYE) has set the stage for popularity of their new song "PINKY UP." Riding on a successful Coachella performance, they have shown a sharp rise on major global music charts, raising expectations for another surge.
According to the latest chart from global audio·music streaming platform Spotify released on the 11th (local time), KATSEYE's single "PINKY UP" ranked 10th on the "Daily Top Songs USA" (April 10). In addition, it was placed at 18 on the "Daily Top Songs Global."
The song had earlier entered the two charts the day before the release (the 9th) at 37 and 83, respectively. Because first-day charts reflect only 12 hours of streaming data, direct comparison is difficult, but it is a jump of 27 and 65 places, respectively.
Around their Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival (hereinafter "Coachella") performance, global music fans showed explosive response to KATSEYE. KATSEYE performed "PINKY UP" for the first time at Coachella held April 10 in Indio, California, U.S.
"PINKY UP" is an energetic song that blends intense percussion and bass with glittering synth textures. Its sophisticated sound, alternating between elegance and sharpness over dazzling beats, is striking, and it contains KATSEYE's message of immersing in the present moment and living boldly.
At KATSEYE's overwhelming performance, the audience went wild, joining in group chants and following the point choreography of raising the pinky finger for "PINKY UP."
Foreign media also took notice of their performances. Billboard, a U.S. music magazine, praised, "KATSEYE's Coachella debut was full of impressive moments." Forbes highlighted, "KATSEYE, as a global girl group representing cultures from around the world, inspired those who resemble them and did not miss a message celebrating diversity."
KATSEYE is a group that debuted in the U.S. in August 2024 through what is known as the 'K-pop methodology' under HYBE chairman Bang Si-hyuk's "multi-home, multi-genre" strategy. In less than two years since their debut, they were nominated for the 68th Grammy Awards and have headlined major music festivals such as Coachella and Lollapalooza.
KATSEYE has previously placed "Gabriela," "Internet Girl," and "Gnarly" consecutively on the U.S. Billboard main song chart "Hot 100." The three songs reached peak positions of 21, 29, and 82 on that chart, respectively. Their second EP "BEAUTIFUL CHAOS" has been on the "Billboard 200" chart for 40 consecutive weeks. That album reached as high as No. 4 on the "Billboard 200."
