'My Little Old Boy' singer Kim Hee-cheul overcame trauma from a past major traffic accident and got behind the wheel again after 20 years.
On the 12th episode of SBS' My Little Old Boy' (hereinafter "My Little Old Boy"), footage was shown of Tak Jae-Hoon and Heo Kyunghwan stepping in as one-day driving instructors for Kim Hee-cheul, who had a long-expired license.
Kim Hee-cheul, who once had metal rods inserted in his leg and was rated level 4 disabled after an unexpected traffic accident in the past, had not driven himself for about 20 years after the accident. The reason he decided to break his long silence and learn to drive again was none other than "Mirae's child."
Kim Hee-cheul said, "Later, our baby. I'm going to name the baby Lua," expressing a touching wish as a father to personally pick up the child who will be born in the future. Tak Jae-Hoon and Heo Kyunghwan, close friends in the entertainment industry, stepped in as one-day instructors to help Kim Hee-cheul, whose license had been unused for years.
With a grim determination, Kim Hee-cheul got into the car, fastened his seatbelt, started the engine and began training. But the 20-year gap in time burst forth in an unexpected place. Seeing the dial-type gear in modern cars, Kim Hee-cheul was flustered and laughed as he hid his awkwardness at the disappearance of the gear lever, saying, "Back in my day, this was it."
Meanwhile, Kim Hee-cheul was involved in a traffic accident in 2006 while returning to Seoul after paying respects at the funeral of member Donghae's father. At the time he underwent major surgery that inserted seven metal rods due to fractures in the femur and ankle, and it was later reported that he was given a level 4 physical disability rating.
