'Perfect Crown' IU proposed to Byeon Woo-seok to avoid an arranged marriage.
In the first episode of MBC's new Friday-Saturday drama Perfect Crown, which aired on the 10th, Seong Hee-ju (played by IU) was shown proposing to Grand Prince IAAN (played by Byeon Woo-seok).
That day, Seong Hee-ju, the second daughter of Castle Group and CEO of Castle Beauty, who was invited to the king's birthday banquet, appeared wearing a red outfit and captured everyone's attention.
Although she showed such shocking behavior that she was called a 'show-off,' Seong Hee-ju could not shake the label of being born out of wedlock to commoner parents. Angry at the group that gossiped about her behind her back, she smashed a cup and smiled, saying "cheers."
Later, while Seong Hee-ju was lost inside the palace, she encountered Grand Prince IAAN. She apologized, saying "I'm sorry," but Grand Prince IAAN asked her name and affiliation, and Seong Hee-ju replied, "I am not a palace attendant."
Grand Prince IAAN said, "A person who is not a palace attendant is loitering in a place where outsiders are not allowed? If you hide yourself while I count to three, I'll let it go." At that moment, hearing an explosion, Grand Prince IAAN rushed to Junghwajeon, where a fire had broken out.
Queen dowager Yoon Yi-rang (played by Gong Seung-yeon) suspected Grand Prince IAAN and slapped him, saying, "Are you trying to kill the king of this country again?" Seeing that scene, Seong Hee-ju was startled but, in the returning carriage, called Grand Prince IAAN "unlucky."
It turned out that the two first met at the royal school in the past and had clashed over the school rules. Seong Hee-ju, who was secretly practicing at the national archery range, was caught by Grand Prince IAAN, and when he lectured her mentioning the rules and demerits, she retorted, "Since you got your approval so easily, it seems only I was held to a higher standard."
Above all, Seong Hee-ju said, "I will enjoy everything my enemy enjoys," and added, "I'll win even if it's dirty. If I'm going to lose dirty, that's better," then bowed and left.
Meanwhile, Yoon Yi-rang apologized for slapping him but expressed anger at the regency and urged marriage. At the same time, Seong Hee-ju, who had received her father's demand for an arranged marriage, voiced her displeasure, saying, "It seems he's trying to give me not only the bastard title but also an incompetent husband, but it won't go my father's way. I won't allow that."
To avoid an arranged marriage, Seong Hee-ju, who was looking for a husband, suddenly thought of the royal family and imagined marrying Grand Prince IAAN. She requested an audience with Grand Prince IAAN but was refused, and Seong Hee-ju, thinking, "Is he playing hard to get?" reapplied.
After being refused again, Seong Hee-ju said, "Again? I'm really getting competitive. Is being a grand prince everything?" and persisted until she was accepted. Grand Prince IAAN likewise refused without yielding.
Finally, Seong Hee-ju changed her approach, saying, "As a junior, I ask a senior for your advice," and applied. Grand Prince IAAN accepted, saying, "A junior asking for help cannot be refused."
At last, the two met. When Grand Prince IAAN asked, "Why have you searched so desperately?" Seong Hee-ju replied, "I want to propose. Marry me," drawing attention.
