Actor Ku Sung-hwan sent his daughter Kkot-bun to the sky and set off on a cross-country march.
On the MBC entertainment show 'I Live Alone' broadcast on the 10th, a preview for next week showed Ku Sung-hwan setting off on the cross-country march.
Ku Sung-hwan woke up groaning, clutching his battered leg, saying, "My body feels like a soldier who's fought 100 wars," and "I'm currently on a cross-country march."
Ku Sung-hwan, who had already attempted a cross-country march at 20, said, "I developed plantar fasciitis and failed. I think this is my last attempt," and "To be exact, I depart from my home in Seoul and Busan Gwangalli is the final destination." In particular, Ku Sung-hwan mentioned the reason he was attempting the cross-country march again, saying, "After my friend left, I was comforted every time I walked."
Earlier, Ku Sung-hwan announced the sad news that his daughterlike companion dog Kkot-bun crossed the rainbow bridge on Feb. 14, which saddened many viewers. About 20 years later, after Kkot-bun left, he challenged the cross-country march once more.
At the time, Ku Sung-hwan wrote on his personal social media, "I don't know how many times I've written and deleted this post. Even as I write this, I don't want to accept it and I can't believe it. My daughter and sister, my partner Kkot-bun, crossed the rainbow bridge on Feb. 14," adding, "Kkot-bun received so much love; I really wanted to say thank you for all the love given in this life. If I had known you would leave like this, I would have fed you more tasty food and taken you on more walks — only regret remains."
He continued, "Kkot-bun, who was so kind and full of charm... thank you, I'm sorry and I love you so much. Let's definitely meet again someday. Eat lots of delicious food there, run and play happily with friends, be happy... I truly love you so much," and added, "Thank you sincerely for loving and adoring Kkot-bun all this time," saying, "I will pull myself together and return in good health."
Because Kkot-bun was a national companion dog loved not only by Ku Sung-hwan but also by viewers, her sudden passing shocked viewers. Ku Sung-hwan did not appear on 'I Live Alone' for a while, then appeared on March 27 after a long absence to share an update.
After going to the United States to collect himself and returning to Korea, he said, "I didn't know I was loved by so many people like this. Thanks to everyone's support and comfort, I was able to send Kkot-bun off well and leave her as a good memory in my heart." Jun Hyun-moo said, "Pet-loss syndrome comes on suddenly. When it comes on suddenly, call us every time," and Ku Sung-hwan replied, "Now I get choked up about once a day, but I'm getting much better."
Walking toward Busan for 16 days, Ku Sung-hwan achieved a total of 420 km, and on the last day he vowed, "The most important thing is mental strength. This challenge must not end," but the weather and conditions were unfavorable and heavy rain began to fall. "What should I do? I thought I could see the end, but I can't see it," he said, closing his eyes tightly and raising questions about whether the cross-country march would succeed.
