"Fun-Staurant" Kim Kangwoo earned the envy of all his sisters-in-law.
On the show broadcast on the 10th on KBS2 "Stars' Top Recipe at Fun-Staurant" (hereafter "Fun-Staurant"), Kim Kangwoo revealed a set of lovingly prepared side dishes for his in-laws, showing his traits as a "national brother-in-law." In particular, including the youngest sister-in-law, actress Han Hye-jin, his attentive consideration for family members combined with his cooking skills created a warm atmosphere.
That day Kim Kangwoo, showing his "bean maniac" side, set out to make special side dishes using Korean beans. First he tried making soybean jang using white soybeans, attracting attention by roasting unsoaked beans directly and then cooking them with water. He added seasoning and simmered them to complete a savory yet deep-flavored soybean jang, eliciting admiration with a simple but distinctive recipe.
Next Kim Kangwoo moved on to a sausage and vegetable stir-fry dish. Using sausages cut into octopus shapes and various vegetables, he toned down greasiness with red pepper powder and oyster sauce, added milk and ketchup to reinterpret it in a rosé style and completed "rose so-ya." Kim Kangwoo's take on a familiar dish, adding variation, captured both the fun of watching and the pleasure of eating.
The tofu dishes also drew attention. Kim Kangwoo microwaved tofu to remove moisture, then presented a braised tofu with added mapo tofu flavors using doenjang and doubanjiang. Not stopping there, he fried tofu and coated it in a syrup and sugar-based sauce to complete "tofu tanghulu," once again surprising viewers with a dessert-style dish with a crisp exterior and soft interior.
Above all, Kim Kangwoo's true value shone in his sincerity toward his family. Han Hye-jin expressed gratitude, saying, "I ate a lot of the side dishes my brother-in-law made," and the hosts repeatedly marveled, saying, "I've never seen a brother-in-law like this." Meanwhile, through his wife came the story that "my husband treats us so well that the in-laws feel awkward," and Kim Kangwoo also showed some hurt, saying, "When I go, everyone scatters." But sister-in-law Han Hye-jin melted Kim Kangwoo's heart with the remark, "I did that to let my brother-in-law rest."
National brother-in-law Kim Kangwoo captured everyone's hearts not only with his cooking skills but also with his warm sincerity toward his family. With a different recipe each episode and sincere conduct, he has been drawing viewers' empathy and responses.
