Comedian Kim Shin-young appeared on I Live Alone and ratings jumped to the 6% range.
According to ratings firm Nielsen Korea on the 11th, the MBC variety program I Live Alone (abbreviated I Live Alone), which aired on the 10th, recorded a nationwide household rating of 6.1%. This was a sharp rise of 1.6 percentage points compared with the previous week's rating of 4.5%.
That day on I Live Alone, Kim Shin-young appeared. Her 14 years of experience living alone and her sincere love for her current self drew admiration. Riding that momentum, I Live Alone's momentary rating surged to 7.8%. The target 20-54 rating was 4.4%, making it the highest among all Friday programs, which surprised viewers.
The "best minute" was also Kim Shin-young. It was the scene in which she confessed the reason she stopped the diet she had maintained for 13 years and happily gained weight: it was thanks to her longtime mentor, the late Jeon Yu-seong.
Kim Shin-young confessed, "I was at Jeon Yu-seong teacher's deathbed, and at that time the teacher's final words were, 'I really want to eat jjamppong but I can't right now. Don't hold back; eat deliciously and live,' " which moved viewers.
In fact, Kim Shin-young had previously lost weight down to 44 kg and for 13 years had been harshly disciplined about self-management, which had been a hot topic. But she changed after her mentor's last words. She said, "I decided to love myself as I am," which was moving.
As a result, Kim Shin-young's days are now pure "happiness." Upon waking she not only cooks rice but filled the table with beef bulgogi. She said that for a happy morning the previous night must be tiring, showing meticulousness by preparing ingredients in advance, and she did not skimp on food, putting plenty of dangmyeon in the morning beef bulgogi.
She even put dangmyeon in her evening cheonggukjang, and Kim Shin-young's eating broadcast in which she enjoyed plenty of dangmyeon and white rice stimulated the I Live Alone rainbow members. Kim Shin-young joked that the spoon was "my alter ego," and she showed an exceptional appetite with Jun Hyun-moo as the "pepper siblings."
Not only her eating but Kim Shin-young's 14 years of living-alone housekeeping skills were substantial. Rooms were arranged to suit her tastes, such as a "denim room" and "shoe room," and her neat habit of immediately cleaning up what she ate drew admiration. She also revealed she is a "golden hand" who sewed pajamas with a sewing machine, customized sneakers, and holds seven design registration certificates, which increased favorable impressions.
With Kim Shin-young's 활약, I Live Alone spectacularly revived from a crisis of recording the lowest ratings in five years in the low 4% range. Ratings rose to the 6% range, and it has even been said she finally filled the void after Park Na-rae's departure. Attention is focused on whether Kim Shin-young will continue to be seen on I Live Alone. <
