On KBS2's Immortal Songs, Hwang Chi-yeul presents the 'rumor-generating stage.'
KBS2's Immortal Songs (directed by Kim Hyung-seok and Choi Seung-beom, hereafter "Immortal Songs") is indisputably the top music variety program with a history spanning more than 700 episodes. The 751st episode airing today (11th) features part 1 of "Immortal Songs - Composer Yoon Il-sang," which reexamines the musical world of Yoon Il-sang, a master of Korean pop music recognized as a maker of timeless songs across genres. To that end, 10 leading artists across generations and nationalities — TWS, KISS OF LIFE, La Poem, Mighty Mouth x Minyoung (BBGIRLS), Hwang Chi-yeul, Lim Han-byeol, Min Woo-hyuk, Da-young, Daybreak, and Yudai Takenaka — will appear, raising expectations.
Among them, having appeared on the "artist Kim Hyun-chul x Yoon Sang x Lee Hyun-woo" episode and reinterpreting Lovelyz's "Ah-Choo," which sparked a hot online reaction, Hwang Chi-yeul, nicknamed 'Hwangchuping,' returns in this "Composer Yoon Il-sang" episode to his main role as the ballad prince and delivers an epic performance. Choosing Lee Eun-mee's "I have a lover," Hwang Chi-yeul mounted the stage with the single line, "I prepared in a straightforward way. Please immerse yourself in it," and with his distinctive husky voice and poignant emotion, he captured the hearts of both the talk waiting room and the panel of song judges.
It is reported that unexpected rumors about Hwang Chi-yeul arose in the talk waiting room. Mighty Mouth's Chuplex said, "I wondered if Hwang Chi-yeul is a split personality. In the waiting room he shows such playful banter, but on stage he delivers such sincere, plaintive vocals that you wonder if it's two different people," raising the 'Hwang Chi-yeul split-personality theory' and drawing laughter. Adding fuel to the fire, Lim Han-byeol said, "At that level, doesn't he have a lover?" stoking the 'Hwang Chi-yeul dating rumor' and turning the surroundings into a sea of laughter.
Indeed, the ballad prince Hwang Chi-yeul's tone reportedly moves even foreign artists. Yudai Takenaka praised, "Hwang Chi-yeul's voice is so sexy. If I were a woman, I think I would want to be embraced," and expectations skyrocketed for Hwang Chi-yeul's stage as he sheds the 'Hwangchuping' image and returns as an emotional balladeer.
"Immortal Songs - Composer Yoon Il-sang" will visit viewers for two weeks from today (11th) with part 1, through Saturday the 18th. Immortal Songs, which produces legendary videos you want to watch again and again, airs every Saturday at 6:05 p.m. on KBS 2TV.
