The group CORTIS showcased Gen Z sensibilities with album photos taken on a smartphone camera as they prepared for a comeback.
CORTIS (Martin, James, Joohoon, Sunghyun, Geonho) on the 10th at 9 p.m. released the fifth album photo 'Panorama' of mini album 2 'GREENGREEN' through the team's official SNS channels. The shooting location is the same recording studio in Los Angeles, U.S., as the 'Portrait' version revealed the day before. In that meaningful space where they made this new release and their debut album, the members created content from their own ideas, giving a fresh fun.
Panorama is a shooting technique that captures a wide scene from 180 degrees to 360 degrees, open left and right. CORTIS intentionally used the distortions and errors that appear when using this function. The space in the photos looks broken and twisted, and the members appear twice in one frame as if they teleported. They wander around the studio while eating their favorite food, acai bowls, or chatting comfortably. Mischievous pranks are also included. The nonchalant act of trying to feed food to a member who has his mouth open as if shouting draws laughter.
The five members' visuals are natural without embellishment. They stood before the camera without makeup and showcased CORTIS's charm with casual styling. It feels intimate, as if peeking into the members' break time during intense music work. This photo makes use of the panorama's characteristics and will be included in the Weverse album in a long, accordion-bound format.
The behind-the-scenes stories of the shoot are also interesting. Since the 6th, the members have been posting memories related to the shooting location in the review section of the map service Google Maps every time a new album photo was released. On the 10th Geonho left a review saying, "When we needed a refresh while working on songs, we would go out to the studio parking lot, get some sun, talk together, and then go back in to work." He also said about the photos, "I remember trying a lot to make James hyung's neck look long and finally succeeding."
Mini album 2 'GREENGREEN', officially releasing on May 4, recorded 1,969,384 preorders as of the 9th, two weeks after preorders began. Following the debut album 'COLOR OUTSIDE THE LINES', it raised expectations of achieving a second consecutive 'double million seller'. Before the new release, CORTIS will first release the title track 'REDRED' on the 20th and begin comeback activities such as a release party and music shows.
