"Perfect Crown" stars IU and Byeon Woo-seok, who engaged in a war of nerves from their first meeting.
In the MBC new Friday-Saturday drama Perfect Crown, which premiered on the 10th, the first meeting between Grand Prince I-an (played by Byeon Woo-seok) and Seong Hee-ju (played by IU) was depicted.
That day, Grand Prince I-an happened to encounter Seong Hee-ju at the king's birthday celebration. Seeming to recognize her at once as a junior from the royal school, he called out "junior," and as Seong Hee-ju was startled, an explosion was heard, drawing attention.
The birthday celebration ended quickly when a fire broke out in the central hall. Do Hye-jung (played by Lee Yeon) asked while taking Seong Hee-ju away, "Why do you hate Grand Prince I-an so much?" Seong Hee-ju, recalling her royal school days, said, "I just find him disgusting."
Before a friendly match in the past, Seong Hee-ju secretly went to the national archery range. While practicing, she was caught by Grand Prince I-an, and when he scolded her for breaking rules, she retorted, "Do you also get demerit points?"
Grand Prince I-an proudly revealed the archery range authorization form, saying, "Did I come without permission?" In response, Seong Hee-ju, angered that the authorization was given only to those of high status including Grand Prince I-an, said, "It seems the threshold was high only for me."
He especially snapped back, "So don't lecture me about demerit points or anything. I will enjoy every opportunity my enemies enjoy."
Then when Grand Prince I-an said, "Shall we get equally dirty?" Seong Hee-ju replied, "I mean I'll win even if it's dirty. If I'm going to lose dirty, that's better." Recalling their first meeting, he muttered once more, "disgusting."
At the end of the video, in the epilogue, a scene was revealed of Grand Prince I-an smiling after Seong Hee-ju left.
The next day, Seong Hee-ju regretted her previous remark, saying, "I'm not going to be expelled, am I? Isn't that the kind of thing that gets you jailed for insulting the royal family? Why did I say that?" At that moment, her friends alerted her, "Get up, what are you doing? There's a notice. It's chaos," and Seong Hee-ju, flustered, asked, "What notice?"
The notice turned out to have been written by Grand Prince I-an. After his conversation with Seong Hee-ju, he opened the archery range for a month. Grand Prince I-an said, "The gentleman has no quarrels, but in archery he must compete. The upcoming friendly match is for that purpose, so classmates must train with all their hearts. I announce that the conditions for entering the archery range are only propriety and intense discipline." Seeing this, Seong Hee-ju glared at the notice in silence.
