Group CORTIS released photos offering a vivid glimpse of the music-making atmosphere ahead of their comeback. The members photographed each other, and the group's distinctive rough texture comes across as warm and approachable.
CORTIS (Martin, James, Juhun, Sunghyun, Geonho) on the 9th at 9 p.m. posted on the team's official SNS the fourth album photo "Portrait" of mini album 2 'GREENGREEN' and raised expectations for their comeback. The background in the released photos is a recording studio in Los Angeles, the actual workspace where this new record and their debut album were created.
Moments of the members seriously immersing themselves in music or playing around were captured naturally here. Martin stares at the monitor wearing headphones, James sat at a desk eating a sandwich and met the camera's gaze. Juhun stares into the lens brought close to his face, Sunghyun creates a clear mood in front of the flash even though the focus is off, and Geonho wears his top playfully over his head with an innocent smile. All of them appear without makeup, wearing comfortable casual clothes such as t-shirts, sweaters, and jackets.
Label BigHit Music said, "We focused on CORTIS as they are, without artificial direction," noting, "We captured the most CORTIS-like moments in a space filled with the team's memories and narrative."
Earlier, CORTIS drew positive responses by sequentially releasing versions such as "BRIDGE" (bridge), shot against the nostalgic bridge they walked before debut, "STREET" (street), taken on a road near an LA studio, and "STUDIO" (studio), filmed at HYBE Yongsan headquarters where their practice and workrooms are located.
The anecdotes tied to the locations are also interesting. Each time a new album photo is posted, one member posts an afterword in the shooting location coordinates review on the map service Google Maps.
James wrote about the LA recording studio, "It was hard not to fall asleep on the very comfortable sofa, so I remember leaning on the desk or sitting on the floor to work. The chocolate chip cookies they baked at the studio were really delicious." He added, "During the new record's production, it was fun when we all freestyled in front of the mic and messed around. I'm satisfied with the album photos."
GREENGREEN, which will be full of CORTIS's new stories, will be officially released on May 4. The album includes six tracks centered on what the team pursues and avoids. Once again, the five members draw attention as they jointly create music, choreography, and videos as a "young creator crew." First, the title track "REDRED" will be released on the 20th at 6 p.m.
