That day the first resident of Gugidong House was actor Jang Geun-seok, who has been single for 14 years. When asked his age, Jang Geun-seok said, "I was born in the rabbit year of '99," and added, "I have lived alone and unmarried until now, but to be honest, I still want to play more," he said.

The next resident was Jang Do-youn, who has lived alone for 14 years. When asked if there was anything she missed about being alone, she admitted, "I recently suffered a lot. If someone simply asked, 'What are you doing?' I would have said I was sick, but no one asked. I hate being alone when I'm sick," she lamented.
Jang Do-youn said the reason she applied to move in was, "If I continued living the way I have, I felt I would remain alone like this," and she said she wanted to try living in a different way, raising expectations.
