The face of Jo Neul, actor Youn Yuh-jung's son and a hip-hop consultant, was revealed.
On the 9th, a video was uploaded to the channel "Sam Richards" in which American sociologist Professor Sam Richards and hip-hop consultant Jo Neul have a conversation.
Sam Richards said of Jo Neul, "He is an interesting person with his own world who works as a hip-hop consultant and artist," and the two met in LA Koreatown to have a wide-ranging conversation about life as Korean Americans.
According to Jo Neul, he grew up in Korea, finished at an international school, then came to the United States and is currently staying in LA. He described himself as "both American and Korean," saying, "I grew up in Korea but had experiences completely different from ordinary Korean students. It was only after coming to the U.S. that I came to understand the lives of Korean Americans."
Professor Sam Richards said, "There was something I really wanted to talk about. What happened with Jo Neul was that I heard his mother was a famous actress and asked to see a photo. But as soon as I saw the photo I said, 'Wait a minute! Was this your mother?'" He recalled, "After watching the next film I said, 'This is the person!' At that time you displayed a typically Korean behavior. Instead of boasting, you showed a kind of modesty," recalling the moment.
Jo Neul said, "Korea places great importance on humility," explaining why he downplayed things rather than boasting, and mentioned his mother Youn Yuh-jung, saying, "My mother is a very famous actress and an Oscar winner. I am also very proud of my mother."
Professor Richards added, "You are a very global person who is both a Korean American and an American of Korean descent. You can tell just by how freely you switch your accent."
Meanwhile, Youn Yuh-jung married singer Cho Young Nam in 1974 and had two sons, but they divorced in 1987. Since then, Youn Yuh-jung raised her two sons alone while moving between Korea and the United States. Youn Yuh-jung also drew attention when her first son came out in 2000 and later held a wedding in New York, United States, where same-sex marriage had been legalized.
