Disney+ anticipated series 'Made In Korea' season 2 has finished all filming and entered postproduction.
On the 10th, OSEN reported that Disney+'s new series 'Made In Korea' season 2 completed filming through the finale around mid-March, and afterward finished things like poster shoots. Recently, it was reported that the hardworking production staff and the lead and supporting actors gathered for a simple dinner.
The Disney+ original series 'Made In Korea' depicts Korea in the 1970s, when turmoil and leap forward coexisted, telling the story of corporate executive Baek Gi-tae (Hyunbin) who tries to make the state a revenue model to reach the pinnacle of wealth and power, and prosecutor Jang Geon-young (Jung Woosung) who relentlessly pursues him to the brink, as they face massive events that span the era. A blockbuster with about 70 billion won in production costs, it is director Woo Min-ho's first series work; he made the films Inside Men (2015), Decision to Leave (2020), Harbin (2024). In addition to Hyunbin and Jung Woosung, the solid lineup including Woo Do Hwan, Cho Yeojeong, Seo Eun-soo, Won Jian, and Jung Sung-il drew anticipation even before its release.
In December last year, season 1 was released as a six-episode series and drew attention, but various opinions emerged about the prosecutor Jang Geon-young character played by Jung Woosung. Some viewers reacted to Jung Woosung's acting with comments such as "his wide grin seems somewhat awkward and forced" and "it feels like acting that breaks immersion." Director Woo Min-ho explained it was an intended setting, but negative reactions also poured in.
Regarding this, in an interview with OSEN in January earlier this year, director Woo Min-ho said, "Season 2 deals with a period nine years after (season 1). Prosecutor Jang Geon-young spends about two years in prison and now cannot even open a law practice. His family situation is bad; how did he live for seven years? He can no longer live like Don Quixote. I don't think he will honestly express his feelings like in season 1. After recklessly charging in and losing to Baek Gi-tae, he will equip a new weapon and try to defeat Gi-tae," and added, "We did not change it based on viewer reactions. It was planned from the start. In season 2, Jang Geon-young appears as a different character, so how he returns will be a point to watch."
Director Woo Min-ho also said, "(Actor Jung Woosung) may have his own concerns," and noted, "I respect viewers' opinions and do not want to rebut them. At the same time, I am carefully observing public reactions and thinking about why those reactions emerged," mentioning aspects he pays attention to as a director.
Meanwhile, 'Made In Korea' season 2 is scheduled to be released this fall.
