Irish actor and writer Michael Patrick, who became known for appearances in popular drama 'Game of Thrones' and others, has died at the young age of 35.
According to foreign media including People on the 8th (local time), Michael Patrick peacefully passed away last Wednesday at a hospice facility in Northern Ireland with his family and friends by his side.
In February 2023 Michael Patrick was diagnosed with motor neuron disease (MND), an incurable disease that weakens and paralyzes the muscles, and had been battling the illness. His wife Naomi Sheehan announced the death through her social media and expressed grief, saying, "Last night Mick (Michael's nickname) passed away. Words cannot express how heartbroken our family and friends are."
She recalled the deceased, saying, "Mick was an inspiration to everyone he met not only during his battle but throughout his life," and "he lived a fuller life than anyone, and he was a person full of joy and laughter."
In February Michael Patrick confessed that a neurologist had given him a terminal prognosis of "about one year to live," but he had shown a strong will to live, saying, "I still have many reasons to live and many plans."
His wife moved readers by quoting a line from Brendan Behan that the deceased liked: "The most important thing in the world is to find something to eat and drink and someone to love you. So don't overthink it; eat, drink and love," offering a final farewell.
A graduate of the famous Cambridge University comedy troupe Footlights, Michael Patrick left a strong impression with an appearance in season 6 of 'Game of Thrones' and also appeared in the drama 'Blue Lights' and 'This Town'. In particular, he was recognized as a writer through the BBC series 'My Left Nut', which he co-wrote based on his teenage experiences. He continued to pursue his acting passion, most recently appearing in the German TV film Mordlichtern, but ultimately could not overcome the illness and became a star in the sky.<
