Actress Sunwoo Yong-yeo drew laughter by expressing belated regret while mentioning the enormous capital gain on land in Cheongdam-dong that she purchased in the 1970s.
On the afternoon of the 8th, a video titled 50-year price rise of 1,000 times: first reveal of Sunwoo Yong-yeo's Cheongdam building (+bone health age) was uploaded to the YouTube channel "Sunpoong Sunwoo Yong-yeo."
Sunwoo Yong-yeo returned to the Cheongdam-dong neighborhood where she used to live. While looking around the unrecognizably changed streetscape, Sunwoo Yong-yeo surprised the production team by revealing, "I bought it for 8 million won back then," saying that she purchased a 100-pyeong lot in the 1970s for just 8 million won.
The site has since transformed into prime land currently worth about 10 billion won at market prices. With a mixture of emotions, Sunwoo Yong-yeo candidly said, "It's strange coming here. Now it's coming along slowly. Back then I told my father (husband), 'Don't sell this house,'" revealing her honest feelings.
In fact, the process of buying this land was not smooth. Her then-husband strongly opposed moving to Cheongdam-dong. Sunwoo Yong-yeo confessed that she even pulled out the then-shocking "divorce card" to carry it through.
Sunwoo Yong-yeo recounted that she said, "So I said, 'Actors live there too, so why can't we? Then I'll get a divorce,'" describing how she had taken an all-or-nothing stance. She added, "So my father couldn't even make a sound and followed along," provoking laughter on set.
When the production team noted that mentioning the word "divorce" would not have been easy given the times, Sunwoo Yong-yeo showed remarkable resolve, saying, "I had no choice but to say it."
