Singer Han Seokyung confessed to financial hardship.
On the 9th episode of MBN 'Exclusive World', youth star Han Seokyung, who rose to great popularity in the 1990s with 'Nangnang 18', revealed her turbulent life.
Although Han Seokyung won a rookie award in 1992 alongside Seo Taiji and i-dle, she suffered trials when her shaved-ice business went bankrupt.
In response, Han Seokyung recalled, "I wanted to collapse. I lost an APT. in Gangnam. I lost all my assets, I didn't have a single penny in my hands. I really felt I couldn't live any longer."
She went on, "Then COVID came right after. Even the events that remained disappeared, so every month was in the negative. When I met someone I couldn't have ordinary conversations like before. While talking, I kept thinking, 'Could I borrow money from that friend?' I even thought I really wanted to work as a housekeeper."
Afterward, Han Seokyung rented a monthly unit with the 30 million won she had on hand, and on top of that she received news of her father's passing.
She said, "My father was out with my mother when he got into a traffic accident. We had just eaten together and he went out. They said he passed away in less than 30 minutes. My mother suffered from depression for about a year and seemed to let go of things one by one," referring to her mother, who is currently battling dementia.
She said, "I thought this was rock bottom, but there was about 200 meters more underground. These things come piled on. Like a tsunami. I'm always in a situation where I have to repay debts. I'm still experiencing financial hardship," sharing her current condition and evoking sympathy.
