Kim Beom aims straight for viewers' hearts as he takes on his first rom-com.
The new SBS Wednesday-Thursday drama Sold Out Again Today, which premieres on the 22nd, (directed by Ahn Jong-yeon / written by Jin Seung-hee / produced by Studio S, Beyond J, Slingshot Studio) depicts a seasonal romance delivered straight to the heart of "real-life sellout"s as perfectionist farmer Matthew Lee (aka Mechuri) and perfectionist sales host Dam Ye-jin become entwined day and night.
Kim Beom will add another flutter as Seo Eric, executive director of global skincare brand "L'Etoile," and many who have been waiting for Kim Beom's "romantic comedy" are paying close attention. On this, Kim Beom said, "(About the romantic comedy genre) I had been getting a lot of recommendations and clamoring from people around me, and by a good opportunity I was able to meet you in Sold Out Again Today. Although this is my first time trying the rom-com genre, it was fun even during filming, and I think I can show a side different from before," which raised approval.
Picking "honesty" as Seo Eric's charm point, Kim Beom said, "When I read the script, I was attracted to Seo Eric because he is very honest and proactive about his emotions, and not childish or selfish but considerate of others. I also wanted to express the three-dimensional aspects Seo Eric has as an actor," showing his enthusiasm for the character.
Seo Eric's straightforward flirting toward business partner and unrequited love interest Dam Ye-jin (played by Chae Won-bin) is foreshadowed. Expecting Seo Eric's change to become more self-directed after meeting Dam Ye-jin, having lived all his life watching his family's reactions, Kim Beom said, "Because this change stems from Dam Ye-jin, I focused my acting not on concentrating solely on his own feelings but on putting the other person first as a priority," and "Seo Eric's signature is a clear emotional expression that conveys his feelings accurately while being gentle so the other person does not feel burdened, sorry, or pressured," revealing his personal acting points.
Regarding Chae Won-bin, who shared the romantic chemistry, he said, "She had the ability to make many people on set feel good with her bright energy. Thanks to her, I received a lot of help expressing the Seo Eric character. She also has a variety of expressive methods, so acting together was fun and enjoyable," hinting at exceptional chemistry.
Finally, Kim Beom added, "The director, the writer, and the many staff and actors on set are all people who shared such pure passion.
