In Perfect Crown, IU and Lee Yeon, Byeon Woo-seok and Yu Su-bin raise expectations for fantastic teamwork.
On the 9th, MBC's new Friday-Saturday drama Perfect Crown (writer Yoo Ji-won, directors Park Joon-hwa, Bae Hee-young) released still cuts featuring two-shots of IU and Lee Yeon, and Byeon Woo-seok and Yu Su-bin.
Perfect Crown is a drama set in 21st-century constitutional monarchy Korea about a destiny-defying, status-breaking romance between a woman who has everything as a chaebol but is irritatingly of commoner status and a man who is the king's son but is sad because he can have nothing. Singer and actress IU plays Sung Hee-ju, a chaebol who is a commoner, and the trending actor Byeon Woo-seok plays Lee An-daegun, the king's son who can have nothing, pairing up for the show.
In particular, actor Lee Yeon and Yu Su-bin play Sung Hee-ju's secretary Do Hye-jung and Lee An-daegun's chief of staff Choi Hyun, respectively. This raises expectations for team play among IU and Lee Yeon, and Byeon Woo-seok and Yu Su-bin.
First, in the drama, Castle Beauty CEO Sung Hee-ju and her chief secretary Do Hye-jung are soul partners running in step toward becoming number one in the industry. Do Hye-jung is Sung Hee-ju's right-hand who never withheld praise or nagging for Sung Hee-ju, who craves people's attention. He reluctantly objects to Sung Hee-ju's brilliant idea of marrying royal Lee An-daegun to raise her status, but he begins to actively support it.
If Sung Hee-ju has soul partner Do Hye-jung, Lee An-daegun has chief of staff Choi Hyun, whose relationship with him is closer than blood. Choi Hyun often scolds Lee An-daegun out of affection, but his feelings for Lee An-daegun are fiercer than flames. So when Lee An-daegun chooses a marriage opposed by the royal family and is threatened, Choi Hyun's loyalty to Lee An-daegun also blazes intensely.
As the relationships between Sung Hee-ju and Do Hye-jung, and Lee An-daegun and Choi Hyun pique interest, the four actors who will meet as 'team Castle Beauty' and 'team Lee An-daegun' raised expectations by confessing about their chemistry at the production presentation.
First, IU expressed affection, saying, I was a fan of actor Lee Yeon and had said I wanted to work on the same project, and like his name, 'Yeon' came to me. On set, I felt I was led by actor Lee Yeon; he had prepared a lot and had many fun ideas. Lee Yeon also said, I was a fan of actor IU and, with that feeling, playing the secretary role made immersion easy. I learned a lot and it was fun during filming, hinting at a warm shooting atmosphere.
Yu Su-bin spoke about his chemistry with Byeon Woo-seok, saying, It was truly fantastic. Byeon Woo-seok is a great person both as a human and as an actor, so I came to care for him in real life while filming. I think that feeling was well conveyed while acting, showing deep trust. Byeon Woo-seok also said, I felt the same way. During acting, my feelings for Choi Hyun grew stronger. I'm so glad (Yu Su-bin and I) share the same feelings, expressing satisfaction and prompting curiosity about the two actors' bromance.
