Actor Kim Su-jin grants MBC's new Friday-Saturday drama Perfect Crown.
The new MBC Friday-Saturday drama Perfect Crown, which is scheduled to premiere at 9:40 p.m. on the 10th (written by Yoo Ji-won / directed by Park Jun-hwa, Bae Hee-young / planned by Kang Dae-sun / produced by MBC, Kakao Entertainment), is set in a 21st-century constitutional monarchy Korea and tells the fate-defying class-breaking romance of a woman who is a chaebol with everything but is annoyed because her status is commoner, and the king's son who is sad because he can have nothing.
Kim Su-jin plays Jeong Mi-hee, a former retainer of the Yoon family. Jeong Mi-hee rose to become the manufacturing head court lady after serving as nursemaid to King Yoon. She has believed firmly throughout her life that "the prosperity of the Yoon family is the way to protect the royal household" and has devoted herself to the family's well-being. But as her once-steady convictions begin to break, she faces an unexpected fracture. Kim Su-jin is expected to portray Jeong Mi-hee's three-dimensional inner life, torn between loyalty to the family and a true cause, with delicate nuance.
Kim Su-jin recently proved her box office reliability with a series of record-breaking moves. She won nationwide affection as the warmly sentimental "Makdong eomum" in the film The King's Warden, which surpassed 16 million cumulative viewers and came close to becoming the second-highest grossing Korean film in history. Unlike the warm image of her previous work, in this project she transforms into the manufacturing head court lady who protects royal protocol, offering a completely different gravity. Her restrained charisma and deeply felt acting, befitting a 25-year veteran, are eagerly anticipated.
