"Radio Star" Kim Hyung-mook expressed gratitude to Lee Byung-hun.
On the 8th broadcast of MBC variety show "Radio Star" (hereafter "Ras"), presented as the "The King's Warden" special, Kim Hyung-mook revealed filming episodes from the movie 'There Is Nothing I Can Do'.
That day Kim Hyung-mook said he had once been thoroughly cursed at by Lee Byung-hun. He had appeared in Park Chan-wook's 'There Is Nothing I Can Do' together with Lee Byung-hun and Son Ye-jin. About this he said, "I learned a lot and it was so good. I was happy."
Kim Hyung-mook said, "I was cast as Lee Byung-hun sunbaenim's friend. I auditioned for the role and somehow felt I would get it. I was confident, so I prepared several versions. When entering Lee Byung-hun sunbaenim's house, I said, 'This house is nice,' sang the 'Love House' BGM and ad-libbed. Director Park Chan-wook liked that moment," he shared the casting behind-the-scenes story.
Especially mentioning the police station scene, he said, "It was a scene where I had to curse at Lee Byung-hun sunbaenim," and added, "Before that we had only greeted each other, so I was cautious, but Lee Byung-hun sunbaenim kept stabbing me (immersed in the role) saying, 'What the hell, what are you going to do,' 'Go on, you bastard.' He helped me a lot. I took that and acted on it," expressing his gratitude.
There was another anecdote. Kim Hyung-mook recalled, "That dawn my father passed away. He died in the intensive care unit, but since filming was scheduled I told the staff not to tell anyone. But I was really out of my mind."
He added, "My mind wasn't settled, but Lee Byung-hun sunbaenim came out for the rehearsal. His eyes were already the character. Watching that helped me concentrate."
