On the 8th, Cha Eun-woo posted a long message on his social media saying, "I sincerely apologize for causing disappointment and confusion to many people, including fans, over the recent tax controversy related to me."
He first said, "I had to be cautious about commenting while various administrative procedures were underway, so the timing of my statement was delayed, and I apologize once again for that delay," and bowed his head, saying, "Although it is late, I want to directly share my thoughts and position now."
Cha Eun-woo said about the tax evasion controversy, "I respect the procedures and results of the National Tax Service, and I have paid all related taxes so that no further confusion continues. I will also faithfully carry out the remaining procedures."
He added, "Having worked with the love and support of many people, I take this matter more seriously and deeply. If there were parts I did not sufficiently examine, the responsibility is entirely mine. I will not evade responsibility by saying 'I didn't know' or 'it was someone's judgment' for any reason."
He also explained about establishing a corporation, "I established a corporation in the process of preparing to continue my activities more stably during a period of many changes and confusion in my career, but in hindsight there were parts I did not sufficiently examine in that process, and I believe that responsibility lies with me, not my family or company."
Lastly, he said, "This incident made me feel the urgent need to reflect on myself. Above all, the fact that I disappointed the fans and Aroha who trusted me is the most painful and regrettable," and added, "To prevent the same problem from recurring, I will inspect all aspects of my future activities with more careful and strict standards. I will strive and strive again to be Cha Eun-woo who fully takes responsibility for his choices and actions until the end."
Meanwhile, Cha Eun-woo underwent an intensive investigation last July by the Seoul Regional Tax Service investigation division 4 on charges of tax evasion before his enlistment last year, and was notified of a tax assessment exceeding 20 billion won.
