On the 8th, Kim Gun-woo posted on his official social media, "First, I want to say sorry to the fans who support us, to the Alphadriveone members who always work hard together, and to the staff who work hard on site and all the staff who support us," and posted a handwritten apology.
Earlier that day, his agency WakeOne acknowledged Kim Gun-woo's inappropriate remarks that were raised online in an official statement. The agency explained, "At the time, Kim Gun-woo did not realize the microphone was on and expressed his dissatisfaction with inappropriate language. The remark was not a criticism or personal attack against a specific person, and it came out as a soliloquy."
The agency said, "This was inappropriate language under any circumstances. We deeply apologize again to the on-site personnel who may have felt uncomfortable because of this. We are also truly sorry for causing concern to fans," and added, "Kim Gun-woo is deeply reflecting on this matter. After discussions with the company, Kim Gun-woo has decided to take time for self-reflection," announcing his suspension from activities.
Accordingly, Kim Gun-woo will not participate in planned activities and fan concerts, and Alphadriveone will continue activities as a seven-member group.
Immediately after the agency's notice, Kim Gun-woo bowed his head and said, "I never thought the great love I have received from before debut until now was something to be taken for granted. Nevertheless, it is disappointing and regrettable to myself that my immaturity showed behavior contrary to my promise to repay the fans who support me."
He continued, "My immature words and actions caused concern to many people and showed a disappointing side. I want to say again sorry to all those who were hurt by this," and said, "Through this incident I deeply felt how foolish my actions were and how inadequate a person I am."
Kim Gun-woo added, "From now on I will act with responsibility every moment, deeply reflect and be careful so that this never happens again. I will take time to seriously reflect on myself once more and do my best to return as a mature person."
