Actor Wi Ha-jun lost weight for "Siren."
On the afternoon of the 8th, at a cafe in Cheongdam-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, a wrap-up interview was held with Wi Ha-jun of tvN's "Siren."
"Siren" is a drama that depicts a seductive insurance fraud suspect who is impossible to resist and a man's fatal romantic thriller as he digs into the deaths surrounding that woman, and Wi Ha-jun played Cha Woo-seok, nicknamed the 'Cha Seung lion' who never lets go once he bites.
When asked that day about the outward preparations he made for the role, Wi Ha-jun said, "I wasn't a character who needed an enormous amount of emotion. Even right before filming, I saw myself and I had gained a lot of weight. My jawline had disappeared, and my eyes were a bit..." and added, "I thought, 'Why did I gain weight?' and my attitude toward the work changed, so I took time for myself before entering the project."
Wi Ha-jun confessed, "So I also lost the chubbiness, and when I looked at the character Cha Woo-seok, he needed some sharpness, so that's the regret I had with 'Squid Game 3.' I wish I had pushed more."
He continued, "Because of that regret, this project needed to be a bit sharper and there were many things to express with my eyes, so I lost about 6 to 7 kg and have maintained that condition. I also grew my hair for the first time and worked on those aspects. I tried to show that outwardly."
When asked about the specific diet method, Wi Ha-jun said, "I have done a lot of weight loss and gain, but this time I think I did it the healthiest. I managed my blood sugar," adding, "In the morning I eat Greek yogurt, blueberries, soy milk and eggs. I still eat this. Eating like this made me feel healthiest while filming 'Siren.'"
He bragged, "I usually get seriously sick, but this time, even though my screen time was large, I filmed healthily. They said it prevents blood sugar from rising at the next lunch. I can't exercise as much as I used to. Still, I lost weight healthily and am maintaining it well."
