Hip-hop heavyweight rapper Offset was injured in a shooting and transported to a hospital. Representatives for rapper Lil Tjay, who was arrested nearby the same day, strongly denied any involvement in the incident.
On the 7th (local time), according to foreign media including the Daily Mail, Offset, a former member of the group Migos, was shot in the valet area of the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Big Bet in Florida on Monday night. Offset was immediately moved to Hollywood Memorial Regional Medical Center and is reported to be in stable condition with no immediate threat to his life and is under close monitoring.
Coincidentally that same evening, a theory of a 'backer' emerged after rapper Lil Tjay, who was reported to have had a poor relationship with Offset, was involved in a brawl nearby and arrested on a misdemeanor charge (public disturbance).
In response, Lil Tjay's attorney, Dun Plorio, issued an official statement dismissing the rumors by saying, "The rumor that Lil Tjay was involved in the shooting is completely false." The attorney's side strongly drew a line, saying, "Lil Tjay was not shot and has not been charged in any shooting. Any reports to the contrary are false."
According to witnesses, at the time of the incident Offset was near the entrance to the Big Bet, taking a phone call while greeting fans and posing for photos, which adds to the sorrow. Police are currently holding two suspects in custody for questioning and are determining the exact circumstances of the incident.
Also, the incident shocked hip-hop fans because it occurred about four years after Offset lost his Migos bandmate Takeoff to a shooting in 2022. Offset is also going through a difficult personal time, as he is involved in divorce proceedings with his wife, Cardi B, in 2024.
Meanwhile, Lil Tjay also has a history of miraculously surviving after being hit by seven bullets in 2022.
