Singer-songwriter Zairo will perform at the opening celebration as the new brand 'dLPs (dielpis)' of Damyang LP charging station launches.
In 2022, Damyang County and Gwangju MBC joined forces to establish an analog complex cultural space based on an LP collection of more than 19,000 records, including 4,107 original pop and rock discs, and with this renewal they are launching the new brand 'dLPs (dielpis)'. This is not a renaming of the space called Damyang LP music charging station, but is intended to clarify in one brand the values and philosophy that this space pursues.
'dLPs' is an abbreviation of "damyang LP sound," leading with the 'd' of Damyang to convey a unique identity, and declares a shift to an analog music platform that connects LPs, space and people rather than being simply a place to listen to music. At the center of this renewal is the deep influence of producer Kim Minho's experience producing Gwangju MBC's flagship live music program 'Culture Concert Nanjang' for 17 years.
On the 10th, the opening day, guitarist and singer-songwriter and distinctive musician Zairo will hold a solo concert, 'Zairo's Night,' at 7 p.m. in the third-floor curation listening room, and the opening stage will be kicked off by R&B singer-songwriter tine.
Also on the third-floor curation listening room, an original album jacket exhibition, "Legends of spring days," will run through April 30 for the opening celebration. Fifteen original discs from pop and rock history, including the Beatles, Pink Floyd and Fleetwood Mac, have been carefully selected and exhibited, and visitors can actually listen to the LPs in the third-floor curation listening room. The first 100 visitors and all concertgoers will receive a dLPs opening commemorative LP-shaped coaster (numbered edition, limited to 130 pieces).
Kim Minho, CEO of Gwangju MBC Friends, said, "dLPs, with the slogan 'Listen. Live. Local.,' aims to provide visitors to Damyang with the essential analog music experience lost in the digital age, and we will strive to become a venue that allows people to experience cultural diversity and the power of music in a more refined way."
Meanwhile, Zairo's concert is at 7 p.m. on the 10th (Friday), and the cultural space is open for admission from 11 a.m.
