The group SeeYa recalled the difficult times they went through in the past.
On the 8th, a video titled 'Nam Gyu-ri confession "I have a disease that prevents me from going on blind dates" SeeYa's first public revelation of dating exploded!' was posted on the YouTube channel 'YouTube Hajiyoung'.
Recently reunited after 15 years, SeeYa drew attention by confessing that they were actually poor during their heyday. Regarding the anecdote that they once ate only cereal and instant noodles because they had no money, Lee Bo-ram said, "It wasn't because we didn't have time, it was because we had no money. We really had no money and were even kicked out of restaurants," she revealed.
She continued, "The company told us to go to the restaurant next to our lodging and eat, but when we went in and said 'hello,' they kept saying 'get out.' When we said, 'Our company will pay (for the meal),' they said, 'We didn't take payment, so get out,'" she recalled.
The payment had been delayed for as much as three months. Hearing this, surprised Ha Ji-young asked, "To us, SeeYa was so glamorous. But why did you have no money and couldn't eat? I wondered," she asked.
Lee Bo-ram said, "Even when I met entertainer friends or people active at that time, they'd say, 'You make a lot of money, so you should buy.' But I wasn't making money, and they'd say, 'You go to events all the time. You're the richest among us.' Why do they keep calling us rich? We weren't making money, so it was strange," she said.
She added, "So I thought entertainers were all just attractive shells. I thought none of them made money."
The three even considered working as mascot performers because they were so broke. Lee Bo-ram said, "Our faces were already known, so should we try working wearing mascot costumes? We talked about that among ourselves. It wasn't really a joke — we were so short on money. We were hungry, so we patched meals together with cereal and instant noodles we had at home," she said.
Nam Gyu-ri said she felt a huge sense of dissonance, saying, "If you spend the whole day doing events, you eat instant noodles with rice at rest stops and grab scraps of bread or triangle kimbap in a hurry, but when you go out into the world, people sing along, saying 'We love SeeYa.' Then you come home, spread out newspaper, ants are crawling like this, you hurriedly fill your stomach with cup noodles and eat cereal — the gap was so big that as an artist you should have developed pride, but it became fragile," she confessed.
SeeYa said they even had discord caused by instigation. Nam Gyu-ri said, "As I did more solo activities and our activities separated, many misunderstandings accumulated," adding, "Even good things can sound not so good when heard secondhand. But even a little bad news can sound much bigger."
Then Lee Bo-ram said, "There was such a thing. My older sister called and said, 'They say you did this, is that true? I'm calling to check.' Someone lied to sow discord among us," and recounted, "(Gyu-ri unnie) said we could even review CCTV and that nothing like that happened; she said she asked because she didn't want anyone to be misunderstood. I said, 'Unnie, I understand. I will believe you,' and we resolved it," she related an anecdote.
