'The Devil Wears Prada 2' is about Miranda (Meryl Streep), the editor of the legendary fashion magazine 'The Runway,' and Andy (Anne Hathaway), who returns as a features editor after 20 years, reuniting with Emily (Emily Blunt), who has become an executive at a luxury brand, and risking her entire career to regain leadership in the fashion world amid a completely changed media environment. Along with Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt and Stanley Tucci, who led the success of the previous film, have returned, drawing attention.
At the event, actors Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway attended, and Streep's visit was her first official trip to Korea, while Hathaway's visit marked her first trip to Korea in eight years since 2018 and her first time visiting Korea specifically to promote a project, which drew attention.
The two who participated in the event expressed their affection for Korea and Korean culture, drawing cheers. From the start of the event, Meryl Streep leisurely greeted the audience in Korean, saying "annyeonghaseyo." On her impressions of the visit, she said, "I was so excited seeing the mountain ranges while flying to Korea. I actually didn't know much about Seoul; I just passed through Korea before, and this is my first time here and I'm so happy. And the hotel I'm staying at seems like the best place I've ever stayed. Thank you for welcoming me so warmly. I'm even more thrilled to be able to show you a film I love."
Anne Hathaway said, "I am so happy to be here. But I am a little sad that we couldn't stay longer; I wish we could have. I wanted to visit the Starfield Library. It's been on my bucket list for a long time. I'm sorry we don't have enough time, but I'm glad to be here. I'll try to do as many things as possible within the time given. While I'm here I want to experience as much as I can. I'm thinking about how to get something delicious to eat," she joked.
Later, when asked about the luxury brands that come to mind when thinking of Korea, Anne Hathaway, who appears in the film as a fashion features editor, said, "Right now Korea is leading youth culture. It seems to have many strengths across many fields worldwide." She continued, "Especially music. Many aspects of fashion and skincare are also excellent and attract a lot of interest. There is a wealth of content. If I were a features editor, I would emphasize these parts in my planning." She added, "I would also like to interview directors Park Chan-wook and Bong Joon-ho."
Meryl Streep joked, "I am very interested in Korean barbecue. I spent a lot of time in L.A., and there was a restaurant near the hockey rink where my son played a lot." She added, "I agree with everything Anne said. When we're in the U.S., what we hear about Korea is its culture. My grandchild has six children, and they talk about '케데헌' every day, they like songs, and they're heavily influenced by K culture. I think it shows how connected the world is. Even when we're apart, we influence each other a lot. I didn't grow up that way, so I like that people depend on and are connected to each other."
A special gift presentation for the two actors who showed affection for Korea was also held. They were presented with floral shoes that applied Korean color to the red high heels, the signature of 'The Devil Wears Prada.' Meryl said, "This is incredible. I'm so grateful. It's so beautiful. I feel like so much thought went into this. It's so intricately made and beautiful," expressing admiration, and Anne also said, "I feel like I've received a treasure. I want to take it home quickly. (Looking at the gift) I think I'll remember today. Thank you for the beautiful gift," creating a warm atmosphere.
