The holder of the highest IQ among past geniuses from 'Finding Genius,' Baek Gang-hyeon, shares a welcome update.
In the second episode of SBS's 'Finding Genius Infinity,' airing at 9 p.m. on the 9th (Thursday), Baek Gang-hyeon, who once captured the nation's attention as the '41-month math prodigy,' appears.
That day the studio grows excited when footage of Baek Gang-hyeon's childhood, introduced through the past 'Finding Genius,' is shown. At the time, at 41 months old he shocked viewers by understanding the unknown 'X' concept and forming equations, and in particular he drew attention as the show's highest IQ holder with an IQ of 164. Seeing this, Mimi said, "A genius boy everyone knows!" while giving a thumbs-up, and Mimiminu marveled anew, "He could easily appear as a 'new genius' now!"
Immediately afterward, Baek Gang-hyeon focuses attention by personally recounting the intense 10 years he experienced through a VCR. He reveals the story of entering a science high school at the exceptionally fast age of 10 and being forced to drop out, and explains why he later challenged the admissions process for the University of Oxford in the U.K. Baek Gang-hyeon said, "I am very interested in computer science and want to become an expert in the AI field," and added, "Seeing my father injure his back during military service made me think it would be good to further develop AI wearable technology. So I decided to apply to the computer science program at Oxford."
However, the story is revealed that despite earning the top A* grades in all four subjects—math, further mathematics, physics, and chemistry—on the U.K. university entrance International A-levels, and achieving strong results on the other test, the MAT (Mathematics Admissions Test), he was still rejected. Hearing this, Cha Taehyun encouraged him warmly, saying, "Gang-hyeon, let's go to Harvard!" Mimi also encouraged him, saying, "You can go to (Harvard)," bringing a heartwarming moment. Cha Taehyun, looking at Baek Gang-hyeon's current self, also offered sincere support, saying, "Gang-hyeon, just do everything you want!" and attention focuses on why he said this.
Meanwhile, the first episode of 'Finding Genius—Infinity,' which aired on the 2nd, recorded an average viewership rating of 3.5% (metropolitan households) according to Nielsen Korea's tally, and a peak minute rating of 4.6%.
