CORTIS debuted a new textured visual in Los Angeles, U.S. The newly released photos have a strong "raw" feeling that captures their charm as it is, without a concept.
CORTIS (Martin, James, Juhun, Sunghyun, Geonho) released the second album photo 'STREET' (street) from their second mini album 'GREENGREEN' on the team's official social media at 9 p.m. on April 7. While the first album photo 'BRIDGE' (bridge), posted the previous day, was set against locations filled with memories from before their debut, 'STREET' depicted small acts of deviation on the streets of Los Angeles.
Los Angeles is the city where the five members stayed for months to work on their debut record and their second mini album. They shot the album photos on streets near the studio where they actually held a song camp. The photos plainly show the memories built there and the sense of liberation felt while co-creating music, choreography and video.
The members gaze at the camera while lying comfortably on the street. The unusual choice of locations and poses reveal the group's characteristic of stepping away from others' gazes and society's standards. Individual photos also attract attention with a relaxed atmosphere. Martin playfully fixes his shoe in the middle of the road, James casually perches on a building exterior, Juhun lies languidly on the stairs, Sunghyun naturally brushes his hair in front of a red brick house, and Geonho crouches on road fixtures—each varied background and pose feels fresh.
Following 'BRIDGE,' the 'STREET' version also stripped away flashy makeup and artificial concepts. The members wore the T-shirts, jeans, hoodies and sneakers they usually like to wear. As a result, the photos convey CORTIS's comfortable yet distinctive inherent vibe.
To coincide with the album photo release, CORTIS is running a promotion using Google Maps reviews. Specific members leave stories about the locations in the photos in the form of reviews. On the 7th, Martin posted about the Los Angeles street coordinates, "This is the route we always used to go to the market when our energy ran low while working. There was a delicious pho restaurant nearby, so on days when work finished early we ate there a few times." He also said of the photos, "I feel like we showed our looks raw and vividly and roughly (raw & rough) from hair and makeup to styling."
CORTIS will release their second mini album 'GREENGREEN' on May 4. BigHit Music said, "The team worked intensely to erase what they guard against and include what they sincerely pursue. Six songs are included, and among them the title track 'REDRED' audio and music video will be released first at 6 p.m. on April 20." The new record exceeded 600,000 pre-saves on the global audio and music streaming platform Spotify within a month.
