'Dad and me' Kim Jeong-tae's son Jihoo was diagnosed as being close to having Asperger's syndrome, and a gap between spatial-temporal intelligence and linguistic intelligence was also revealed.
On the 8th episode of TV CHOSUN's 'Dad and me' (hereinafter 'Dad and me'), Kim Jeong-tae's son Jihoo appeared. Kim Jeong-tae's wife, a professor of architecture, suspected Jihoo had Asperger's syndrome.
Kim Jeong-tae said, "When Jihoo goes to high school he will live in a dormitory; it's two people per room, so I hope he won't have unnecessary trouble. He will have to yield and make sacrifices," expressing his concern. The doctor said, "There are a few notable points in the intelligence test. Jihoo's spatial-temporal intelligence is at the top 0.5%. It's very high," and added, "His cognitive function using visual information is truly outstanding." However, the doctor said his language score falls in the bottom 14%.
Jihoo told the doctor, "English doesn't have that many homonyms, but Korean with one word 'bae' referring to person, vehicle, and fruit makes it difficult," and the doctor said, "Homonyms are actually about context. Distinguishing them by length of sound is impractical. Jihoo finds it difficult to understand within context," and added, "Academically speaking, broadly it's the autism spectrum; narrowly, it's Asperger's."
