Actor Lim Ji-yeon transforms into a 'Joseon villain.'
The new SBS Friday-Saturday drama Shinsegae, which premieres May 8 (directed by Han Tae-seop / written by Kang Hyun-joo / produced by Studio S, Gil Pictures), is a romantic comedy drama like a hair-trigger war between unknown actress Shin Seori, possessed by the spirit of an infamous Joseon villain and turned into a 'malignant' person, and Cha Se-gye, a ruthless conglomerate heir called a monster of capitalism.
Director Han Tae-seop, who directed the dramas Stove League and Cheer Up, and rising writer Kang Hyun-joo have joined forces, and reliable actor Lim Ji-yeon (as Kang Dan-sim/Shin Seori) and Heo Nam-jun (as Cha Se-gye) are set to show their first romantic chemistry, drawing intense interest.
Ahead of the full broadcast, Shinsegae released a teaser poster showing Lim Ji-yeon as the 'Joseon villain' who meets the new world of the 21st century, drawing attention.
In the released teaser poster, Lim Ji-yeon captures attention as if she has torn through a luxurious mother-of-pearl folding screen. Her aura, as if recreating a portrait of a beauty, grabs the eye, while Lim Ji-yeon's wide-eyed expression piques curiosity.
This is the appearance of Shin Seori (played by Lim Ji-yeon), a 'Joseon villain' who suddenly falls into 21st-century Korea. Confronted with unfamiliar scenes such as skyscrapers and cars that could not be seen in Joseon, Shin Seori shows shock and wonder on her face as if facing a 'wonderland.' Questions and expectations about Shinsegae are growing: what will happen to Shin Seori, the Joseon villain who crash-landed in the 21st century, and how will she, armed with survival instinct in a world where everything has changed, survive?
Above all, expectations are high for Lim Ji-yeon's comic acting transformation. Lim Ji-yeon has risen as a 'trustworthy actor' with three-dimensional performances that cross good and evil in any genre. In Shinsegae, Lim Ji-yeon is expected to completely master everything from the fierce charisma of a villain who shakes Joseon without a backer to the comic and lovable survival instinct that suddenly appears as she tries to survive in 21st-century Korea, controlling the drama. As a result, anticipation soars for the first broadcast of Shinsegae, which will contain Lim Ji-yeon's tumultuous 21st-century survival story as the 'Joseon villain.'
Meanwhile, the new SBS drama Shinsegae, which has drawn attention with the meeting of the 'Joseon villain' Lim Ji-yeon and the 'ruthless conglomerate heir' Heo Nam-jun, will premiere May 8 at 9:50 p.m.
