"Dongsaeng-i-mong 2 — You Are My Destiny" revealed the newlywed daily life of Kim Ji-young, the landslide-vote woman from "Heart Signal 4," and the producer explained why he cast the Kim Ji-young couple.
On the morning of the 8th, An Byung-wook, the producer directing SBS's "Dongsaeng-i-mong 2 — You Are My Destiny," spoke with OSEN in a phone interview and opened up about the episode featuring Kim Ji-young ♥ Yoon Soo-young that aired the previous day.
Kim Ji-young is a former Korean Air Lines flight attendant who won much love for her pure and sincere charm through Channel A's "Heart Signal 4" in 2023. She now has opened a YouTube channel and is active as an influencer.
She began dating entrepreneur Yoon Soo-young, who founded Trevari, the country's largest paid book club community, after being introduced by Lee Ju-mi, who had appeared on the program with her, and they held a wedding at a location in Seoul this January. The two announced a pregnancy along with their marriage and appeared on "Dongsaeng-i-mong 2" to reveal their newlywed daily life on television for the first time.
An Byung-wook, producer of "Dongsaeng-i-mong," said the reason he cast Kim Ji-young and Yoon Soo-young was, "Recently there has been a positive response that it's good to see a variety of couples' different sides. Now that our program is in its ninth year, we are focusing on showing the new sides of various couples."
He continued, "In the case of the Kim Ji-young couple, they are relatively young compared with couples previously featured on 'Dongsaeng-i-mong,' and Kim Ji-young is someone who draws interest from younger people," and said, "So unlike previous couples, we thought we could show what young, buzzworthy couples like the Kim Ji-young couple are like and what kind of newlywed life they lead, so we cast them."
An PD recalled the couple's first meeting and said, "There were two points that stood out when I first met the husband. First, he was much better looking in person than in wedding photos or SNS photos. He was tall and well proportioned."
He added, "Second, this person had vaguely wanted to do work that benefits the world since childhood, and so the more successful his business became, the more he thought about what could benefit the world, which led him to create a reading-group platform. Seeing that reminded me of my own childhood."
In fact, the two appeared on "Dongsaeng-i-mong" and not only showed a sweet newlywed life expressing affectionate chemistry, but after the pregnancy they revealed their natural daily life, drawing much attention. Regarding these aspects, An PD said, "I thought those sides were part of Kim Ji-young's honest and unadorned persona. Although it's a couples' reality show that can require caution, I thought her unfiltered self-presentation was appealing."
