Actor Kim Nam-gil spoke out directly about the controversy over a 'premature ending' that arose despite a fan meeting that lasted more than five hours.
Recently, Kim Nam-gil's agency, Gillstory ENT, released a video titled 'About the 5-hour 12-minute fan meeting 'premature ending' rumor(?)...'
In the video, Kim Nam-gil cheerfully dismissed the early-ending rumors about the fan meeting, saying, "Why is everyone making a fuss? Isn't it good that it ended early?"
He went on to explain, "Including the intermission, it ran for about 5 hours and 10 minutes. It seems the talk of a premature ending is coming up because it was shorter than when we ran it without an intermission."
He also emphasized that the original plan was 2 hours and 30 minutes. Kim Nam-gil said, "Some people come to fan meetings not to enjoy them but with a feeling of 'let's see how it goes'" and added, "Rather than coming prepared for the time, it would be better if you just come thinking you'll enjoy it together."
He added, "Whether it's 2 hours, 3 hours, or an all-night event. If we put too much pressure on the time, we won't be able to do it next time," and added, "Guys, let's not be so bound by time." He then joked, "We're not aiming for six hours," drawing laughter.
Earlier, Kim Nam-gil held the 2026 fan meeting 'G.I.L' on the 28th of last month at the KBS Arena in Seoul. The fan meeting again drew attention for its running time of more than five hours.
In particular, Kim Nam-gil was cited as a leading example of "long fan meetings," having recorded as much as 5 hours and 42 minutes at the signature charity show '2025 SMG SHOW: The Universe's Greatest Show' held last November. This performance, despite its long duration, prompted reactions that it was "shorter," leading to a different kind of controversy(?).
